Overview on EPR for Tyre

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a policy which is govern by Central Pollution Control Board and states that the producers, importers, and brand owners responsible for the collection, recycling, and proper disposal of the tyre which was produced by them in the market, after the end of their life cycle.

In the case of tyres, this includes new tyre manufacturers, vehicle importers, and tyre importers and used and refurbished tyre importers.

Applicability

  • Importers of new tyres are considered Producers under the EPR framework.

  • Importers of waste and used tyres for recycling or retreading

On the bais of this EPR Licesne CPCB will be able to calculate that how much tyre is importing in India and at the time of annaul filling and EPR Licesne Renewal the target will be defined for recycling.

In result the Importer and Manufacturer have to connect with Authorised Tyre recycler who will collect the trye scrap quantity as mentioned in Importer and Manufacturer EPR license and it must be recycled.

After that the EPR Credits for Tyre will be transfered by recycler to Importer and Manufacturer EPR portal , which will represent their annual compliance fulfillment for that financial year.
