E waste Recycling Capacity as per E waste Management rules

The E-Waste Management Rules were revised in 2024 by the Central Pollution Control Board. When the E-Waste Management Rules were first formulated by the Central Pollution Control Board in 2016, the e-waste recycling capacity was defined based on land capacity. For example, if someone had 500 square meters of industrial land, they could set up a e waste recycling plant with a capacity of 300 metric tons. This process continued for obtaining e-waste recycling licenses from the State Pollution Control Board. For getting the E waste License you can connect with Enviroxperts team. Our team will assit you with the compliance process and helps you in the filing process for getting the E waste Recycling License.

After 2016, In 2020 to 2022, when the Central Pollution Control Board committee and the State Pollution Control Board committee conducted site inspections, it was found that some recyclers did not have the recycling machine capacity commensurate with their land capacity.

E waste Machine capacity and Machine List as per CPCB

In 2024, when the E-Waste Management Rules were revised again, the Central Pollution Control Board stated that approval for metric tons of e waste recycling would now be given based on both land capacity and machine capacity. This means that if someone sets up an e-waste recycling plant with a capacity of 300 metric tons per year, they must have machines installed with a daily recycling capacity of 1 metric ton. And per day, recycling capacity would be calculated as a maximum of 20 hours per day.

The inspection of e-waste recycling machines will be conducted by the State Pollution Control Board or the Central Pollution Control Board, and under the E-Waste Management Rules 2024, and after that, only the Concern to Establish certificate (CTE) and Concern to Operate certificate (CTO) and Hazardous Waste Authorization certificate (HWM) will issue to run the e waste recycling facility. The Central Pollution Control Board has also issued a list of approved recycling machines which an E waste recycler have to install in their recycling facility as pet their respective Item like IT companies waste , Home appliance waste, PCB ( Printed Circuit Board).

For any support in getting the Concern to Establish certificate (CTE) and Concern to Operate certificate (CTO) and Hazardous Waste Authorization certificate (HWM) certificate fot E waste recycling you can connect Enviroxperts team. Our team will help you in proper consulting and filling for getting these certificates.
