What is considered waste today could become a massive source of wealth for our country in the future.
We are discussing EV batteries and Lithium Ion Batteries, specifically those used in two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and other vehicles. These batteries have a lifespan ranging from a minimum of six to a maximum of ten years. Research indicates that by 2030, the volume of these batteries will reach the tens of millions yet, currently, there is no calculation or plan in place to determine exactly how they will be recycled.
With this in mind, the next "gold mine" for India will be lithium-ion battery recycling, or more broadly, EV battery recycling.
If you wish to set up an EV or lithium-ion battery recycling plant in India, you can connect with Enviroxperts Team. Our team will provide you end to end consultancy in this field. We can provide end-to-end guidance, assisting you with everything from obtaining licenses for Lithium Ion Recycling Plant setup to selecting the right machinery.
Benefit of Recycling Lithium Ion Scrap Batteries & EV Batteries.
Electric vehicle battery recycling is being hailed as India's next gold mine because, given the current rate of adoption, the country will soon by 2030 begin accumulating millions of scrap batteries.
Recycling these batteries offers significant benefits valuable minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, aluminum, copper, iron, and steel can be recovered through processes like hydrometallurgy. These recovered materials can then be sold in the domestic Indian market or exported to international markets. While this sector hasn't yet get significant public attention, the demand for electric vehicles in India is growing rapidly. A massive surge in the lithium-ion and electric vehicle (EV) battery recycling industry is expected by 2028–2030, however, rather than waiting until then, now is the ideal time to establish yourself in this field.
Permission required to setup Lithium ion Battery Recycling Plant in India
To set up a lithium-ion or EV battery recycling plant, you must obtain permissions from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), & DGFT in compliance with Battery Waste Management Rules.
The State Pollution Control Board will conduct an inspection and issue the recycling permit. The Central Pollution Control Board will authorize participation in government-initiated credit facilities specifically, the battery credit transfer facility which offers a handsome revenue model for battery recycling. Additionally, if you wish to import scrap batteries (whether lithium-ion or EV-related) into India, the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change & DGFT will grant the necessary clearance.
How Enviroxperts assists you
Enviroxperts will guide you through the process of obtaining these permissions from the State Pollution Control Board, the Central Pollution Control Board, and MOEF, assisting you in gathering the required documentation and submitting your application to the appropriate departments.
